Does God Heal His Children? Always.

Does God Heal His Children? Always.

God is a healer, and He still heals today.  Do we always see evidence of His healing power on earth?  No, we don’t.  Nevertheless, He heals His children every single day.  “Praise the Lord, my soul…who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases” (Psalm 103:1, 3).

Mark chapter nine records the story of Jesus healing a boy possessed by an impure spirit.  “But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up” (Mark 9:27).  Mark five contains the story of Jesus raising a twelve-year old girl from the dead.  “He took her by the hand and said to her… ‘Little girl, I say to you, get up!’” (Mark 5:41).  From the time it took these two to stand up, they were completely healed.

Imagine with me a child of God entering heaven.  The first One he sees is Jesus, and oh what a beautiful and glorious sight He is!  Before this redeemed child stands his Savior and Lord.  He falls at His feet in worship and thanksgiving.  “Every knee will bow” (Isaiah 45:23 and Romans 14:11).  “When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: ‘Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last.’” (Rev. 1:17).  Jesus raises him to his feet, and in that moment he is made completely whole and perfect, ready to make his grand entrance into heaven.

My daughter, Jamie, left earth ravaged with the disease of breast cancer.  The moment her heart beat its last on earth, it beat the first time in heaven.  I envision her falling at the feet of the One she loved more than life itself.  As He lifted her to her feet, cancer and everything else of earth evaporated into nothingness at His touch and in the light of His glory.  She was totally healed in that moment, and she stepped into heaven.  Understand:  there is no cancer in heaven.

Also, there is no heart disease in heaven.  Likewise, there is no old age, Alzheimer’s, mental illness, birth defects, handicaps, special needs, muscular dystrophy, diabetes, arthritis, anxiety, pain, disability, missing limbs, depression, wounds, phobias, addictions, malnutrition, COPD, and every other illness known to mankind.  In heaven, nobody needs glasses, contacts, hearing aids, dentures, wheel chairs, walkers, walking canes, crutches, hospital beds, life support equipment, or medicine (except laughter of course).  None of these things will be in heaven, because when we see Jesus, we will be like Him – alive, healthy, and full of vitality – forever.  “No longer will there be any curse” (Rev. 22:3).

In heaven, we will be as we were meant to be.  Not so for those who reject Jesus Christ in this life and die apart from Him.  You think life is bad now?  Those who don’t know Jesus will carry every pain and curse from earth into hell with them where it will be enlarged a billion times over for all eternity with no hope and no relief – ever.

Yes, God heals His children every day.  Sometimes it is a divine healing miracle on earth, and at other times, it is the ultimate healing in heaven.  I will always pray and believe God for divine healing, because that is who He is and what He does.

The day I step into heaven is the day this verse is literally fulfilled for me: “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise.  Give thanks to him; bless his name” (Psalm 100:4)  “Thank you, Lord, that this life is not all there is.  Thank you for heaven.”

Prayer:  Jesus, I believe in you.  You are God’s Son, and you died to pay the price for my sin.  You rose from the dead that first Easter morning, because the grave could not hold you, and you are alive today.  I ask you to forgive me of all my sin.  I give you my life.  Help me to live for you every day for the rest of my life.  Thank you for saving me, healing me, and giving me a home in heaven with you.  Amen.
