“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28).
I apply this verse to my life today. Hang with me now and allow me to explain. There is nothing more important in my life than God’s Word. His Word takes precedence over everything else in this world because it is the only thing humans have on this earth that is true and forever unchanging.
Let’s look at each piece. “Those who love him” includes me, and what does the Bible say about those who love Him? “Jesus replied, ‘Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching’” (John 14:23). That is my heart’s desire and what I strive to do each day. Do I do this perfectly? I must admit that I do not, but I’m thankful for a loving and forgiving God who continually teaches me and helps me stay on track.
“Who have been called according to his purpose.” Yes, I am called according to His purpose. Here again, all God has to work with on this planet are imperfect vessels saved by grace. If you believe in Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, this includes you too.
When we fulfill these two conditions in Romans 8:28, then God will always do what He says He will do. God will work all things out for good.
So here I am, trucking along smoothly—then POW! Out of nowhere! But it’s okay because I love the Lord, and I am called according to His purpose. I didn’t see it coming, but God did. I was blindsided, but God knows all about it, and He has a plan. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11).
With that said, my two books, “Connections Second Edition” and “Mom, God’s Got This” are being republished by a new publisher. Therefore, it is possible there will be a lapse in their availability. However, I have a shop page on my website now that includes PayPal, and an interested reader may click on https://karennorton.com/shop/ and purchase books until my supply is exhausted or until they are available through my new publisher.
Every bit of this will work together for good! With my new publisher, my books will have a much broader visibility and worldwide distribution. I am excited about that! For now, I must take a deep breath, relax, and not get in a hurry. And besides that, I can now spend more time writing the next two books God is impressing on my heart.
I am learning that God’s timing is always perfect. It may be a glitch in my plans but not in God’s plans. He knows what He is doing. That is more than I can say for myself most of the time!
